DMN PRESIDENT CHAIRS STRATEGIC ACADEMIC SIDE EVENT AND ADVANCES GLOBAL GOVERNANCE DIALOGUE AT SINGAPORE MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITY (SMU)

On the sidelines of the prestigious 2026 Rising Scholar Fellowship Programme (RSFP) and the Singapore Rising Scholars Conference, H.E. Mr. Dao Manh Nghia, President of the DMN Initiative, officially chaired a side event at Singapore Management University (SMU).

The specialized session provided a premium international platform for President Nghia to introduce the comprehensive global frameworks, milestone achievements, and cross-border operations of the Dao Manh Nghia Initiative, the SDGs Council, and the DMN Foundation to an audience of distinguished global fellows, faculty members, and senior institutional guests. The dialogue emphasized the critical role of youth-led institutions in translating international legal parameters into localized, high-impact sustainable development programs.

Representing Radboud University, the University of Glasgow, and the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in International Law of Global Security, Peace and Development (ILGSPD), President Nghia engaged in an exceptionally rigorous five-day academic itinerary. The immersion commenced with the Welcome and Opening Address delivered by SMU President Prof. Lily Kong, BBM, PBM, FBA and College of Graduate Research Studies (CGRS) Dean Prof. Heli Wang, alongside a thought-provoking Keynote Address by UCLA Professor Christopher Tang.

Throughout the conference, the DMN delegation participated in advanced panels, including "Building Bridges: Academic–Industry Collaboration for Impactful Research" and "The PhD Journey: Common Challenges and Strategies for Success". Furthermore, tech-forward seminars hosted by SAGE Publishing and the SMU Li Ka Shing Library provided actionable insights into strategic publishing, visual abstract deployment, and the critical integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within high-impact research workflows.

A key milestone of the diplomatic and academic visit included a 1:1 Research Engagement at the SMU Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL) with PhD Programme Director Prof. Wei ZHANG. President Nghia reviewed advanced doctoral research showcases presented by senior scholars Huijuan Peng ("From Attribution to Allocation: Rethinking Responsibility in Agentic AI Systems") and TRAN Hoang Tu Linh ("Inter-Asian Dynamics in Commercial Dispute Resolution"). The summit allowed President Nghia to present core dimensions of his ongoing master's thesis on the intersection of AI and International Commercial Arbitration.

The successful conclusion of this side event and fellowship underscores the DMN Initiative’s unwavering commitment to expanding its international scholarly network, fostering institutional rule of law, and building a sustainable global alumni community capable of addressing complex geopolitical and technology-driven challenges.
